My machine is designed to pierce the capsule, how does the Pod n Save capsule not get damaged?

Our capsule is made from stainless steel so is not damaged during the process. We also have tested this process in machines countless times to make sure that the machine us is not damaged in the process.

How long should I wait between each use?

The capsule will be hot after each use so we recommend waiting 1-2 minutes before picking it up to wash and re-use it. If you are planning on making multiple coffees in a row then choose one of our discounted multi-pod packs so that you can make plenty of coffee for your friends and family.

But don't Nespresso recycle their capsules?

Yes they do, but in New Zealand this can only be done by dropping the capsules off to a Nespresso store, of which there only stores in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. If you either can't be bothered going into a store or don't live in one of these centres then you would have to courier your pods to these stores for them to be recycled which creates more damage to the environment. Once they actually get to Nespresso of the collected capsule some are used as fuel in electricity generation and only only about 25% are actually recycled. Nespresso predominantly makes their capsules from a special kind of aluminium which is not found in recycled aluminium so most of their product is from virgin material. And while recycled aluminium is easy to recycle, ore extraction is highly energy intensive, wasting incredible amounts of water, electricity and resources. Nespresso has understood the extent of the problem, and therefore has made a pledge towards sustainable aluminium sourcing. But for now, the use of virgin aluminium still uses 95% more energy than recycling it. The short of it is, using a re-usable capsule is better for the environment so is the favourable option than relying on a recycling process.
